Although all consumers are aware of the disadvantages of eating junk food, they continue to do so anyway. While anything eaten in moderation is completely acceptable, too much of it can be quite disastrous and will lead to the rise of various health hazards. Savory healthy snacks, however, are a great alternative to most of the sweets and junk food that is being consumed today in abundance by everyone. When you think of savory or salty food items, you think of the high levels of fats and carbohydrates that come with them. However, there are much healthier, easy-to-prepare alternatives at the comforts of one’s own home to curb one’s cravings, and they are as follows.

Savory Healthy Snacks – Tomato Chips

Instead of settling for a pack of potato chips that barely provide any nutrition for one’s standard requirements that are not only high in calories due to the refined amounts of carbohydrates and sodium levels, but also contain a chemical called ‘acrylamide’ that has been known to increase cancer risks, tomato chips are 100% healthier. Besides the obvious tomato, all it takes is the microwave and seasoning to one’s preference to prepare it at home within a span of five to ten minutes.

Roasted Chickpeas

Rich in protein and fiber, chickpeas are a great snack alternative to popcorn and is ideal when watching a movie with family or friends. We can also add them to soups and salads. One can choose to be a little generous with their chickpeas by coating them with a light curry or sauce if they prefer it to be eaten that way, depending on their taste.

Savory Healthy Snacks – Corn On The Cob

Boiled or steamed, xorn, when eaten directly from the cob, does not rid itself away of the rich minerals and antioxidants present in it. With high vitamin B levels, corn on the cob is recommended to those undergoing various diets since it is low in calories yet provides the feel of a full stomach. They are also known to promote healthy vision and lower one’s blood pressure.

Bell Peppers

Bell peppers can be stuffed or roasted. Usually stuffed with goat cheese and a sprinkle of paprika and other seasonings, if preferred or roasted/baked after being thoroughly mixed in generous amounts of olive oil, garlic, and preferred seasoning can be served as a delicious party snack or as an appetizer to the main course. Not only are they tasty, but they’re also very healthy, considering that we would still preserve the nutrients without compromising on the taste of the snack.

Eating healthy is not only associated with weight loss since it essentially means the intake of a well-balanced diet without the additional consumption of food items. These food items could be containing ‘empty calories’, meaning the food item does not provide any nutritional value to the body but instead does nothing more than adding bare calories. Most food items that actually are not healthy tend to go unnoticed as the taste of the said item blinds everyone. These healthy savory snacks may seem dull and tasteless at first, but you’ll take our word for it when you actually try them out.
